Black Epsom calfskin in the softer Retourne construction, with the stitching turned inside so the corners and base read rounded rather than boxed, and polished gold hardware across the turn-lock strap closure. The rolled top handle, removable shoulder strap, clochette and padlock are all present, and the grained Epsom is holding its shape with no slouch. The gold plates and the base feet carry light hairline scratching from wear, normal for hardware of this age. The interior is clean with a smooth black lining, and the black and gold combination reads dressy or everyday.
